SWIMMING ROUTES
All of our swimming routes are subject to the weather forecast. Our team of guides and coaches will find the ideal spots to swim on any given day based on the local weather and climate conditions. Our goal is that all our guests/swimmers can visit and swim all the different coastal shorelines of the island.
Cabo de Ses Salines
Cabo de Ses Salines
This is the most southern tip of the island and perhaps the best swimming spot due to the color and clarity of the water. The whole area is privately owned and luckily nothing has been built around the cape. Swimming in these waters is one of the most amazing experiences. Simply enjoy the limitless visibility underwater and admire the spectacular view of the raw land. Cabo de Ses Salines offers sandy bottoms and crystal-clear turquoise waters.
Cala Santanyi / Cala Llombards
Cala Santanyi / Cala Llombards
South of Cala Figuera we find both of these coves. They are very similar in the scenery however Santanyi is longer whereas Llombards is wider. Our favorite swim here is to connect both coves swimming. Rocky bottoms and shores make up this scenic swim.
Cala Figuera
Cala Figuera
Cala Figuera is a long cove which has a natural marina at the end of it. The best swimming spots are outside the cove, especially to the north towards Caló de Ses Faves. There are lots of hotels in the area and a popular boating zone.
Natural Park Cala Mondragó
Natural Park Cala Mondragó
This is probably one of the nicest places to swim on the island. The area is made up of several small coves that together account for the natural reserve park. There are no hotels or apartment complexes in the area so you can swim and admire the beautiful scenery. The only problem is that in the summertime it is crowded with boats so it is important to be careful and swim close to the shore and use a safety buoy. All these coves are like natural swimming pools with sandy bottoms and crystal waters. There are several marine caves we explore swimming.
Portocolom
Portocolom
Portocolom is a “natural” Marina. This is an ideal swimming location if there are bad weather conditions in the region, as it is highly protected from currents and winds. Swimming around the small bay is always nice. The north part is less crowded and has fewer boats with a few small sandy beaches. It is also very beautiful and picturesque to go for a walk around the port and refuel after the swim.
Cala Tropicana / Cala Murada
Cala Tropicana / Cala Murada
Following to the south of Cales de Mallorca there are a few more coves with similar characteristics. Cala Tropicana and Cala Murada also provide amazing swimming spot.
Cala Romántica / Cala Varques / Cales de Mallorca
Cala Romántica / Cala Varques / Cales de Mallorca
This one of the most spectacular swimming areas of Mallorca. There are plenty of small coves in this region with amazing sandy bottoms and rocky formations along the shoreline. The water is turquoise and clear and we can explore some of the water caves on this part of the island. Due to its beauty, these coves tend to be very crowded with boats so it advisable to use a safety buoy and swim close to the edges.
Sa Coma
Sa Coma
Just around the southern tip of Cala Millor you will find Sa Coma, which is another very touristy spot. Normally we swim from Cala Millor to Sa Coma or vice versa.
Costa de los Pinos / Cala Millor
Costa de los Pinos / Cala Millor
This is a long cove composed of three coves together: Costa de los Pinos, Cala Bona and Cala Millor. It is situated south of Canyamel. There are many hotels, houses and apartments in this area so it is normally very crowded. It has a long sandy beach in the Cala Millor area with nice clean blue waters. However, the best swimming spots are located towards the southern rocky edge of Cala Millor
Canyamel
Canyamel
Around the area of Canyamel there are various coves where we conduct beautiful swims. For example, Font de Sa Cala, Cala Proveçal, Cap Vermell or the actual Canyamel beach. There are various swim spots where we can see water caves. This area is characterized for all the rocky shorelines and small coves throughout this coast.
Cala Ratjada
Cala Ratjada
Just around the lighthouse of Capdepera there is the famous Cala Ratjada. This cove is populated with lots of hotels and apartment complexes. However, it also has some amazing waters for swimming. Normally, when the weather is right we can swim from Cala Ratjada all the way to see the lighthouse from the water which is an incredible swim and offers an amazing view from the water.
Cala Mesquida
Cala Mesquida
This beach which is exposed to the northern seas is located on the eastern tip of the island just around the cap Farrutx. The cove tends to be very crowded in the summertime due to its large sand area. Typically, we swim parallel to the shoreline either to the east or west of the cove depending on the wind and the currents. Cala Mesquida offers turquoise water, sandy bottoms with rock formations and great views of the mountains that engulf the cove.
Cap Farrutx
Cap Farrutx
The cape Farrutx is a natural park, which means no hotels, no buildings and no people. It has amazing swimming spots and it is difficult to access since you can only get there by boat or walking.
Betlem
Betlem
This is the last spot at the end of the Alcudia bay before arriving to the natural park of Cap Farrutx. It also has some amazing views of the mountain of the cape Farrutx, as well as very rocky bottoms and edges.
Colonia de San Pedro
Colonia de San Pedro
After Son Serra de Marina we find Colonia de San Pedro which is a very small residential neighborhood with very calm waters with rocky edges and bottoms. It is an ideal spot for swimming when there is east or northeast winds.
Son Serra de Marina
Son Serra de Marina
This is a very low key beach which is famous for having the best surfing waves on the island. The great thing is that it has no hotels or major developments so there are not many people. However, it is very popular in the summertime. The best swimming spot is located at the end of the beach where people enjoy nudity.
Bahia de Alcudia
Bahia de Alcudia
The Alcudia Bay is the largest in the north of the island and is characterized for having many sandy beaches. It is very nice to swim in some of the crystal waters of the beaches around it like Aucanada or Playas de Muro.
Cap des Pinar
Cap des Pinar
Opposite to Cap Formentor, you will find the Cap des Pinar (Cape of the Pine Trees) on the other side of the Pollensa bay and where the Alcudia bay begins. As its name suggests, it is covered with pines. Luckily, the whole cape is a military zone so there are no hotels or major constructions and we can continue to enjoy nature at its fullest.
Mal Pas / Bon Aire
Mal Pas / Bon Aire
Just opposite to cape Formentor, on the Alcudia side, is the area called Mal Pas/Bon Aire. This is a very special area for swimming since it is rarely visited by tourists and it offers many small coves with incredible rocky formations on the bottom.
Puerto Pollensa
Puerto Pollensa
This is our home base. Because the Port Pollensa is in such a protected bay, most of the time we have very calm waters. There are plenty of swimming spots and it is great to have swims along the coastline. Also, the port is a perfect spot for relaxing after long swims with plenty of shops and restaurants.
El Farito
El Farito
Farito means “little lighthouse”. It is located at the end of a small peninsula in PuertoPollensa next to an old fortress from the XVII century and a military base used to keephydroplanes. It is an area which is very protected from the wind so normally it offersvery calm waters, amazing visibility and fantastic Posidonia aquatic plant meadows onthe bottom. El Farito is one of our favorite swimming spots.
Playa de Formentor
Playa de Formentor
Playa de Formentor is paradise for open water swimming. Its marine bottoms are protected since boats can’t anchor there but only tie up to existing buoys. Therefore, there are amazing Posidonia aquatic plant meadows on the bottom which give an incredible turquoise color to its waters. There are a lot of tourists here in the summer but we have a few swimming routes where you hardly see anyone such as the visit to the cave behind the small island in front of the beach.
Cabo Formentor
Cabo Formentor
The furthest point north of the island. During the swim, you get to see the spectacular cliffs of over 300 mts high and experience swimming in very deep waters all along the way. This spot is for very advanced swimmers and we only tackle it when there is no wind. When there is north wind you get big waves and strong currents.
Cala Boquer
Cala Boquer
This cove is only accessible by either boat or by a 45 minute hike from Puerto Pollensa. Therefore, it is not very crowded with tourists. It offers very calm waters and amazingrock formations on the bottom.
Cala San Vicente
Cala San Vicente
Cala San Vicente is composed of three different coves: Cala Clara, Cala Molins, and CalaCarbó. When there is no wind from the north it is an idyllic cove for swimming in all directions. There are plenty of small caves you can explore along the edges and if you are lucky you get to see wild goats walking on the mountains.
Sa Calobra
Sa Calobra
Reaching this amazing spot is already an adventure in itself. Once there you will find two beaches. The unofficial beach is right in front of the small village in the bay La Calobra. The official beach is situated between the cliffs where the canyon Torrent de Pareis reaches the sea. It’s only a short walk from Sa Calobra, partly through spectacular rock tunnels. Situated in stunning surroundings the swims here offer very clear waters with different shades of turquoise. These beaches tend to be very crowded during summertime so arriving here early is a must. Both directions of the cove offer spectacular swims.
Cala Tuent
Cala Tuent
Cala Tuent is located in the most beautiful natural surroundings with a view of the highest mountain in Mallorca, Puig Major, with an altitude of 1,445 meters. The beach is 100 meters long and situated inside a lovely bay surrounded by the wooded Tramuntana mountains. We can swim in either direction to the north and south of the cove with plenty of rock formations in either direction. The swims here are spectacular as one can admire the mountains of the Tramuntana just behind you as they drop directly on the water.

"The unspoilt cove and beach at Cala Tuent on the North western coast of Majorca looking across to Sa Costera in the distance. Despite itaas proximity to Sa Calobra and the Torrent de Pareis it never gets overcrowded, even in the height of summer."
Port Soller
Port Soller
This lovely town is located north of Cala Deia and it is the main port of the village located on the western part of the island. The port of Soller has two main beaches located on each side of the large bay. The main beach is centrally located in front of the harbor. The second one, called Platja d’ en Repic, is located on the end of the bay. We normally conduct swims inside this bay only when there are rough seas since it is very well protected. If the weather is fine, we can conduct swims all the way to the lighthouse of Capgros on the southern face of the entrance to the bay.

La Badia de Sóller -- the entrance and harbour of the beautiful majorcian bay of Port de Soller (Puerto de Soller), with two lighthouses sitting on the headlands on either side of the bay.

Panoramic view over the harbour and beach of the beautiful Majorcian resort town of Puerto de Soller.

A panoramic view of Soller taken from the lighthouse of this town in a summer day
Cala Deia
Cala Deia
Just below the old village of Deia we find Cala Deia. The road to get from the town to the cove is curvy and steep but worth it. Once you get to the cove there is mostly large stones and pebbles and a few sections with gravel. From the cove, we swim in both directions depending on the currents. To the north of the cove there are some amazing rock formations and we swim past the Cala Encantada to continue exploring all the rock formations in the region. To the south we swim all the way to the point of Sa Cuineta. The sea in the cove is wonderfully clear and there are some amazing rocks both on the bottom, as well as along the shoreline.
Sa Foradada
Sa Foradada
This is a very famous spot in Mallorca. The meaning of the name is “the hole”, because of the hole in the rock formation at the end of the tip. The name of this small peninsula is Punta Prima and lots of people gather at the top of the lookout to have a drink while they watch the sunset. To the south of Punta Prima you will find a large cove from where you can see Son Marroig, a large mansion which is currently used for weddings and events. To the north of Punta Prima there is a smaller cove called Cala de Sa Costa Brava. We prefer to swim in this part of the cove since it’s less exposed. Sa Foradada offers amazing rock formations and cobalt blue waters with beautiful scenic views of the mountains covered with pine trees.
Port de Valldemosa
Port de Valldemosa
LLocated near the village of Valldemosa, famous for the monastery where Chopin spent part of his life, you will find the port of Valledmosa. The port is a small picturesque fishing village with a small gravel beach. From here we have swims to the north and south of the port to admire the spectacular views of the mountains behind the port. Port of Valldemosa offers lots of large rock formations and crystal blue waters.
Banyalbufar
Banyalbufar
Located in the Tramuntana region this cove is situated below the nice town of Banyalbufar. Surrounded by cliffs and trees, the beach is about 100 meters long and narrow. It has some amazing crystal waters with large size rock formations. The access is a bit difficult with lots of stairs to make it to the beach. However, once in the water the scenery is amazing with all the mountains of the Tramuntana in the backdrop. Swimming towards the north you can get all the way to the smaller cove with the same name and to the south there are numerous large rocks along the shoreline that make up a great swim.
Sant Elm
Sant Elm
This is a cute little town that is in front of Dragonera Island. There are several swimming routes around this area to the north or south of the town. Perhaps the most famous swim is to go around the small island of Illa Pantaleu which is just in front of the beach. We recommend using a safety buoy since there are many boats cruising these waters.
Isla Dragonera
Isla Dragonera
The bigger island opposite of Sant Elm is called Dragonera. The name is derived from the Latin “Traconis”, meaning large slit given that the island has a sweet water cave. We normally swim this island once a year with a reduced number of swimmers. Based on demand we can also organize a special swim around it for a small group of swimmers. The whole route around the island is just under 10 km. Since this is a natural reserve you will be able to see plenty of marine life as well as large Posidonia aquatic plant meadows. It’s important to have special caution with the currents.
Andratx
Andratx
Port Andratx is a very popular port with lots of boats, construction and nice places to eat and drink. The best swimming spots are outside of the port north of Punta deMoragues. We prefer to swim around Cala D’Egos and then come back to the port for a walk around the port and to have a drink in one of the many terraces overlooking the water.
Cala Llamp
Cala Llamp
Around the cape of Cala Figuera, we have a few great swimming spots in the southwest tip of the island. Cala Llamp is a nice cove with lots of mansions built on the cliff. It has a nice beach club with a sea water swimming pool. You can swim in either direction of the cove and then enjoy a nice paella at the restaurant. It is a bit pricy but worth it if you want to go for nice swim and then sit by the pool and enjoy a glass of wine and some food. Cala Llamp has mostly rocky formations on the bottom.
Portal Vells / El Mago / Cala Figuera
Portal Vells / El Mago / Cala Figuera
Towards the other end of Palma bay, there are a few very nice coves. We especially like the Portal Vells/El Mago area. This whole area is protected so there is no construction around here. It has easy access by car, nice sandy bottoms and crystal waters with great visibility. If the weather conditions are good, we can swim all the way to the Lighthouse of Cala Figuera. Portal Vells during summertime is a popular destination for boats to anchor and spend the day so it is advisable to use a safety buoy.
Portal Nous
Portal Nous
Near the city of Palma we have a few swimming spots. While populated they do have great routes and perfect conditions. Portal Nous is one of the most exclusive marinas on the island. Next to the marina is a small beach with easy access. From this beach, you can swim all the way to Palma Nova. There are some nice rock formations and very few hotels so it’s not a crowded spot.
Cap Enderrocat / Cala Blava
Cap Enderrocat / Cala Blava
Cap Enderrocat is where the bay of Palma begins. This whole area is characterized for its high cliffs. It is only recommended to swim around here when the ocean is flat otherwise there are high waves and currents. The area has a few coves, all of which are residential. For example, Cala Blava is difficult to access as one must go through a residential neighborhood to get to the water. It has some amazing views of the cliffs.
Cala Pi
Cala Pi
Cala Pi is a nice residential neighborhood west of the S’Estanyol. The cove is a long water inlay. The best swim is when winds are blowing from the north so this area is flat and we can swim from Cala Pi to Cala Beltrán and around the point Capocorb since there is no construction on this side of the cove and you can see small cliff formations along the shoreline.
Faro de S’Estalella
Faro de S’Estalella
This is a small lighthouse located next to S’Estanyol. From here you can see the island of Cabrera very clearly. Swimming around the lighthouse is a nice swim with lots of rocky formations both on the bottom of the sea, as well as along the shore. What we like about this place besides the blue waters and nice rocky formations is the fact that there is no construction in this area as it is a protected natural reserve. Therefore, the views are magnificent everywhere you look.
Playa de Es trenc
Playa de Es trenc
Es Trenc Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Mallorca. It is a long strip of white sand beach with crystal blue waters. It is a very popular beach during the summertime and lots of boats come to anchor to spend the day. It is a great place to enjoy a beach day with family and friends, but not the best open water swimming spot due to the amount of boats. It is only worth it if you swim very early in the morning before the crowd shows up.
